The vote count will happen on January 29th, 3:00, in the Faculty Lounge (Rothwell Center), as part of our first membership meeting of the semester.

Nominations will be accepted up until noon on Tues, Jan 27. That evening we will email out the final list of nominees so that you can vote via email or in person on the 28th or 29th. Please send your nominations (including department) to Jonathan Nunez-Babb (jonathan.nunez-babb@seiu1021.org). You can nominate yourself and more than one person.

As of Tuesday, Jan 20, the following members have accepted their nominations:

Stephanie Young (English)

Ben Brown (History)

Filomena Borges (Languages/Spanish)

There are 5 other nominees that have yet to accept or decline the nomination.

The Bargaining Team is responsible for bargaining on behalf of all NTT faculty during union negations with administration. During the spring term, the Bargaining Team will have approximately two three-hour bargaining sessions a month, including ½ hour prep meetings. All union members are encouraged to be part of the Bargaining Team.

Mills Bargaining Update

Bargaining starts up again on this coming Monday, Jan. 26. We hope to stick to a timeline to reach our shared goal of a finalized contract by the end of the spring semester. If you would like to see a detailed report of the current union contract proposals, please click here or contact Stephanie Young (krbygrip@yahoo.com) for details.

Dominican and St. Mary’s Adjuncts Unionize with SEIU1021!

We’re very excited that adjuncts from both Dominican University in San Rafael and St. Mary’s College in Moraga have unionized with SEIU Local 1021. Almost 300 contingent faculty at Dominican University and roughly 400 at St. Mary’s have become the newest members of SEIU Local 1021. Votes for both schools were counted on December 29. Dominican University won their union by 148 yes to 77 no and St. Mary’s College won their union by 204 yes to 64 no. That’s now five Bay Area colleges that have organized and unionized in under one year! The nationwide recognition of adjunct faculty’s value and campaigns for fair treatment are really picking up steam!
