That’s not a question we hear very often. Contingent faculty are usually told what they’ll do, how they’ll do it and what they’ll get for doing it. With a union, we will finally have meaningful input into what our contract looks like. We will elect colleagues to our contract negotiations team, and the priorities of negotiations will be determined by a bargaining survey. Longer appointments? Pay raises? Health benefits? Advance notice of addition or cancellation of courses? These are all issues we can and will address during contract negotiations.
